Last November 2016, the Japanese multinational KATO WORKS Co., Ltd. - hereinafter referred KATO - and the Japanese conglomerate IHI Corporation Ltd. (IHI) had signed an agreement for the transfer of 100% shares of IHI Construction Machinery Ltd. (IK) from IHI to KATO. From January 2017 the IK Company, which controls 51% of IHIMER S.p.A. based in Italy in San Gimignano (49% continues to be held by IMER GROUP SpA), had already changed its name to KATO HEAVY INDUSTRIES CONSTRUCTION MACHINERY CO., LTD. (KATO HICOM).
On February 17, 2017, IHIMER S.p.A. changed its name to KATO IMER S.p.A.
IHIMER manufactures in Italy miniexcavators, skid steer loaders, tracked dumpers and tracked aerial platforms. The range of short-tail and zero-tail miniexcavators, covers a range from 0.8 to 8 tonnes. Skid-steer loaders with operating load capacities ranging from 300 to 1100 kg and tracked loaders. Dumpers are divided into two classes: mini-dumpers, load capacities ranging from 500 to 2500 kg, ideal in construction, landscaping and in garden nursery applications and dumpers with operational load capacity from 3000 to 10000 kg for civil military engineering projects. Tracked aerial platforms can reach maximum working heights of between 13.5 metres and 33 metres. Since November 2016, Ihimer is controlled by Japanese group KATO WORKS that manufactures a wide range of construction machines and since 1895. The Japanese giant decided to invest in Europe in cooperation with Imer Group, aware of the central role of the market.
